A Different Kind of Open House in Downers Grove This Sunday
There’s a difference between walking through a home… and actually experiencing it. This Sunday, April 12th, we’re opening the doors at 1950 Elmore Avenue in Downers Grove for something a little more thoughtful than the typical open house. From 12 to 2 PM, this will feel less like a showing, and more like a local event built around a beautifully designed home. This is the kind of home where the layout flows naturally, and the details that are both subtle and intentional start to stand out the longer you’re there. That’s exactly why we wanted to create something around it.
Featuring Two Downers Grove Authors
As part of the afternoon, we’re welcoming two local authors for a casual meet and greet:
Candice DelPerico — Author of "My Mom Is a Millennial"
A playful, rhyming picture book that takes readers back to the 90s and early 2000s, before smartphones, streaming, and instant everything. It captures the small, familiar moments that defined growing up in that era.
Greg Elisha — Author of "Downers Grove: Past and Present"
A collection of side-by-side images showing how familiar places around Downers Grove have changed over time. It’s a simple but compelling way to see the village from a different perspective.
For those who arrive early, the first 20 guests will have the opportunity to select a complimentary copy of one of the books. We’ve always believed that how a home is experienced matters. In addition to the meet and greet, we’ll be serving Easter macaroons from Toni Patisserie & Cafe, a small detail, but one that adds to the feel of the afternoon. Nothing overdone. Just something a little more considered.
Why We Approach It This Way
There’s no shortage of homes on the market, and no shortage of open houses. But every once in a while, it’s worth doing something differently, creating an environment where people actually want to spend time, not just pass through. For us, it’s about giving a home the kind of attention it deserves. Creating a setting where people linger a little longer, notice a little more, and walk away remembering how it felt.
