Oktoberfest season is one of the best parts of fall in DuPage County. Throughout September and October, communities across the western suburbs celebrate with German food, local and imported beer, live music, stein-holding contests, family activities and everything from traditional German bands to major national recording artists. But with so many Oktoberfest events happening around DuPage County in 2026, which ones should you put at the top of your list? We ranked some of the best local Oktoberfest celebrations based on the overall experience, entertainment, food and beer, atmosphere and what makes each event worth visiting. Here is The Glover Team’s guide to the best Oktoberfest events in and around DuPage County for 2026.

#1 Downers Grove Oktoberfest

Dates: September 18–19, 2026
Location: Forest and Library parking lots along Burlington Avenue between Main Street and Forest Avenue, Downtown Downers Grove

Taking our top spot is the 13th Annual Downers Grove Oktoberfest, and this year's entertainment lineup makes a strong case for number one. Hosted by the Education Foundation of Downers Grove District 58, Oktoberfest transforms part of Downtown Downers Grove into a large fall celebration with German food, beer, covered festival tents, family activities and two days of live entertainment. It is held rain or shine, and proceeds help support programs benefiting District 58 students. Friday starts with local artist Ellie Banke from 5 to 6:30 PM, followed by Local H from 7:15 to 8:30 PM and Candlebox from 9:30 to 11 PM. Saturday brings Ralph's World from 2 to 4 PM, Reality Bites from 5 to 6:30 PM, Big Bang Baby from 7 to 8:30 PM and Liquid Soul Chicago from 9:15 to 11 PM. The combination of a walkable downtown location, major live music, German food and beer, family activities and a community cause puts Downers Grove at the top of our 2026 list.

Why it's #1: The complete package. Great location, an impressive music lineup, family-friendly activities and one of Downers Grove's signature community weekends.

#2 Goldfinger Brewing Oktoberfest

Date: September 19, 2026
Time: 12–11 PM
Location: Goldfinger Brewing Company, Downers Grove

If authenticity and beer are your priorities, Goldfinger Brewing's 7th Annual Oktoberfest may be the celebration for you. Goldfinger takes a different approach to Oktoberfest. Instead of simply adding German food and seasonal beer to a festival, the brewery puts the brewing traditions themselves at the center of the celebration. Goldfinger has even held off tapping its Oktoberfest beer until the ceremonial stichfaß is tapped at the event. The day features its six-month lagered Märzen, Festbier, gravity keg tappings, German food, live music, stein hoisting and Hammerschlagen. It also happens on the Saturday of Downers Grove Oktoberfest, giving serious Oktoberfest fans the opportunity to experience two very different celebrations in Downers Grove on the same day.

Why it's #2: One of the most beer-focused and traditional Oktoberfest experiences on the list, especially for anyone who appreciates German-style lagers and brewing culture.

#3 Naper Settlement Oktoberfest

Dates: October 2–3, 2026
Times: Friday 5–10 PM and Saturday 3–10 PM
Location: Naper Settlement, 523 S. Webster Street, Naperville
Admission: $25 adults, $15 children ages 4–12 and free for children under 4

Naper Settlement earns the third spot thanks to its combination of atmosphere, entertainment and one of the area's biggest Oktoberfest beer selections. Everything takes place beneath a giant heated tent on the historic Naper Settlement grounds, which makes this an especially dependable October event regardless of what the fall weather decides to do. Friday features Ed Wagner's Lustige Blaskapelle followed by Polkaholics. Saturday mixes Oktoberfest traditions with more contemporary entertainment, including Freeze Dried, a stein-holding contest, Whiskey Romance Band and Fool House closing the evening with its Wow That's What I Call 90's Tour. Traditional German cuisine, local restaurants and food trucks, children's activities and the historic setting round out the weekend.

Why it's #3: A polished, weather-friendly Oktoberfest with plenty of beer, food and entertainment for both families and adults.

#4 Oktoberfest by Schnitzel Platz

Dates: September 10–20, 2026
Location: Camera Park, 101 E. Fullerton Avenue, Glendale Heights

It is hard to beat an Oktoberfest that lasts 11 days. Oktoberfest by Schnitzel Platz is one of the most traditional celebrations on our list and gives visitors plenty of opportunities to attend. Authentic German food is a major part of the experience, with schnitzel, bratwurst, pretzels, sauerkraut and other favorites paired with German and seasonal beers. Live German entertainment runs throughout the festival, with the 2026 lineup featuring performers including Eddie Korosa Oktoberfest Band, Die Kellerknaben, Bratwurst Brothers, Johnny Wagner and Euro Express.

Why it's #4: Eleven days of German food, beer and traditional music make this one of the most extensive Oktoberfest experiences in the western suburbs.

#5 Itasca Oktoberfest

Dates: September 11–12, 2026
Location: Washington Park, 350 E. Irving Park Road, Itasca

Itasca's 18th Annual Oktoberfest combines the feel of a traditional German festival with a community event that is easy for the whole family to enjoy. The two-day celebration at Washington Park features German food, drinks and traditional live entertainment. Admission and parking are free, which also makes Itasca one of the more accessible Oktoberfest celebrations on our list. Saturday morning adds another tradition with the Itasca Oktoberfast 5K. The race begins at 9 AM and finishes at Usher Park with a post-race celebration featuring food, drinks, music and awards.

Why it's #5: A well-established community Oktoberfest with free admission, traditional entertainment and a 5K that gives the weekend something different.

#6 Woodridge Oktoberfest

Dates: September 25–26, 2026
Location: Woodridge

Woodridge Oktoberfest is the choice for anyone looking for more of an adults' night out. The 21+ event combines beer, German-inspired food, Oktoberfest activities and live bands beneath a festival tent. Sixteen Candles is scheduled to perform Friday, September 25 at 9 PM, bringing its popular '80s show to the celebration. Past events have also featured stein-holding competitions, pretzel tosses, photo opportunities and selections from local breweries.

Why it's #6: A fun alternative to the family festivals, particularly for couples and groups of friends looking for an Oktoberfest night out.

#7 Bartlett Oktoberfest

Dates: September 25–26, 2026
Location: Leiseberg Park, 325 E. Devon Avenue, Bartlett

Bartlett's 5th Annual Oktoberfest brings two days of food, drinks, entertainment and family activities to Leiseberg Park. The festival runs from 4 to 10:30 PM Friday and 1 to 10:30 PM Saturday, with family activities scheduled Saturday afternoon. German band Prost! is also part of Saturday's entertainment. While Bartlett extends beyond DuPage County into Cook County, its proximity to communities in northern DuPage makes it an easy addition to a western suburbs Oktoberfest weekend.

Why it's #7: A relaxed outdoor community festival with a good mix of German entertainment, family activities and evening festivities.

#8 Darien Oktoberfest

Date: September 17, 2026
Location: Darien

Darien's Oktoberfest returns September 17 and gives residents in southern DuPage County another way to celebrate close to home. The Darien Chamber of Commerce has begun promoting the 2026 celebration, although the complete entertainment, food and activity lineup has not yet been announced. We will be watching for additional details as September approaches.

Why it's #8: A convenient hometown Oktoberfest for Darien and surrounding communities, with more details still to come for 2026.

#9 Oktoberfest Scramble at Seven Bridges Golf Club

Date: October 18, 2026
Time: 10 AM–5 PM
Location: Seven Bridges Golf Club, 1 Mulligan Drive, Woodridge

This one earns a place on the list for doing Oktoberfest completely differently. Seven Bridges Golf Club's annual Oktoberfest Scramble combines an 18-hole, four-person golf scramble with Oktoberfest-inspired food and drinks. The day begins with a 10 AM shotgun start and includes a pre-golf Oktoberfest-style breakfast, on-course drink tastings, post-round pig roast, contests, raffles and prizes. It may not be a traditional Oktoberfest festival, but it is a fun way to keep the season going well into October.

Why it's #9: Not a traditional festival, but easily the most unique Oktoberfest-themed event on the list and a great option for golfers.

#10 Six Flags Great America Oktoberfest

Dates: Select dates, September 19–November 1, 2026
Location: Six Flags Great America, Gurnee

For our final spot, we are heading outside DuPage County for an Oktoberfest that is worth considering if you are up for a fall day trip. Six Flags Great America brings Oktoberfest into the theme park with German-inspired food, seasonal beer, Bavarian-style entertainment and family activities alongside the park's rides and attractions. The celebration runs on select dates from September 19 through November 1, giving it one of the longest Oktoberfest seasons on our list. This is definitely different from the traditional community festivals in Downers Grove, Itasca or Glendale Heights, but that is also why it earns a spot. Families can turn Oktoberfest into a full day at the park, while adults can enjoy seasonal food and drinks between rides.

Why it's #10: It is outside DuPage County and less traditional than our other picks, but the combination of Oktoberfest festivities and a full day at Six Flags makes it a fun fall road trip.
